Digital Millennium Girls

The discussion about privacy on the one hand and how far you can go in presenting your life on the internet, on the other is in part a result of the digital revolution. While researching the internet, I discovered devastating network-webpage's of young girls. These pages breathed anorexia and the melancholic nature these girls portrayed reminded me of my adolescent days.

The girls often photographed themselves from above (a bird's eye view). It is the new, fashionable way of capturing and presenting yourself but I find it a vulnerable angle, which makes them look small and even a little helpless. It is often among the young and adolescent that they have a sense of lack of identity, which encourages them to fall into obsessions, which swallow them up and leads them to loose their self image even more.

With ink I reinforced this sentiment and added some of the girls confronting statements to focus attention to this strange subculture with its own language and perspective
